Reading Teacher with Student

The NEIU Literacy Center is operated by the Literacy Education graduate program. Current graduate students enrolled in their Literacy Education Practicum courses are the teachers (tutors) in this program. All assessment and instructional sessions are supervised by a Literacy Education faculty member.

  • In this program, children and adolescents receive a comprehensive assessment of their current reading skills, and are provided with individualized instruction to expand those skills.
  • The Literacy Center serves students from grades 2-12 who are reading below grade level or experiencing reading difficulties.
  • The cost of the program is $150 for the term.

Our Fall 2024 programming will be held at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) on Monday and Wednesday evenings under the supervision of Dr. Kiwana Brown. Priority enrollment will be given to current ETHS students and D65 (Evanston) students in grades 2-8. If you would like your child to be added to the waiting list, please complete the application.
