TRIO SSS programs are a great opportunity to support students' success at Northeastern Illinois University, because they are designed to increase graduation and retention rates by providing services such as leadership development, tutoring and mentoring, personal and academic development workshops, and much more.
Our programs are specifically designed to take the uncertainty out of the university experience and to better prepare students for success at Northeastern Illinois University and beyond.
TRIO Student Support Services offers three programs:
- Achieve: serving all academic majors
- Access: serving students with documented disabilities
- Teacher Preparation: serving students majoring in education

TRIO SSS programs help undergraduate students with important decisions, such as college major, career choices, financial aid, and course selection.
Applications are accepted from undergraduate students motivated to earn a degree. College success requires meeting the challenges of your academic courses and gaining the confidence, expertise, and professionalism needed to progress through life beyond graduation.
