Chicago Brass Festival
Founded by Dr. Travis Heath, the Chicago Brass Festival has been proud to host world-renowned performers annually and is dedicated to presenting quality concerts, master classes, and educational events. Past performers include: The Mnozil Brass, The American Brass Quintet, Christopher Martin, John Hagstrom, Gene Pokorny, Charlie Vernon, The Spanish Brass, The Boston Brass, Rex Richardson, Wycliffe Gordon, The Presidents Own Marine Band Brass Quintet, Oystein Baadsvik, Robbert Vos, B3+, The Burning River Brass, CALJE, Don Rader, John Almeida, Carole Nowicki, M5 Mexican Brass, Septura and more.
Chicago Chamber Music Festival
Founded in 2012 by Dr. Susan Tang, as the Chicago Piano Festival, the Chicago Chamber Music Festival, co-directed by Dr. Tang and Dr. Jaime Gorgojo, takes place each August and is geared toward piano and string students ages 12 through senior year in high school to assist with the development of their inherent musical talent and instincts. Days are filled with private lessons, coaching of chamber music ensembles, practice time, master classes and performances by faculty and guest artists, student recitals and more. Summer High School Band Camp
July 29-August 2, 2019
This summer NEIU will be hosting their second annual Summer High School Band Camp. NEIU faculty, staff, students and alumni work together to provide a week-long day camp with a spectacular experience. The camp will be for woodwind, brass and percussion players that are rising high school freshmen through rising seniors. Students will have an opportunity to develop their skills through the different classes offered. Spend a week with us this summer for an unforgettable musical adventure!
NEIU Moves! Movement Clinic (NEw!)
July 15-19, 2019
This week-long movement intensive is designed to give students a better understanding of their body though multiple forms of movement and dance. Classes will be offered in classical, cultural, athletic and alternative styles to bring a deeper understanding of body awareness to each student. Join us for our first ever movement clinic this summer and put your mind into motion!
Summer Guitar Academy (new!)
July 8-12, 2019
Guitarists of all skill levels will enjoy a week-long camp that will provide instruction in multiple performance styles as well as musicianship and history. Campers will enjoy performances and master classes from several world-renowned guest artists throughout the week. The week will end with a final performance showcasing both solo performers and camp ensembles. Join us for the first NEIU Guitar Camp!
