The Community Music Program (CMP) at Northeastern Illinois University offers weekly private lessons in piano, voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, guitar and percussion. The CMP instructors include Junior Faculty (NEIU undergraduate and graduate students), Senior Faculty (professionals) and Artist Faculty (NEIU full-time faculty artists or special guest artists). Lessons are offered in 30-, 45-, and 60-minute increments and students sign up for the entire session offered. (Lessons with Artist Faculty may also be taken on a one-by-one basis.) Group lessons are available for some instruments (after stay at home orders are lifted).
Please call us if you do not see an offering that meets your needs. Piano instructors will start students at age 5 and up. Guitar students age 6 and older can start in group lessons and in private lessons at age 12. Call or email with any questions about age requirements.
