Smoke-Free Northeastern
As mandated by state law (Public Act 098-0985, Statutory Reference 110 ILCS 64), all Northeastern Illinois University property will become smoke free on July 1, 2015, in order to provide a healthy environment that promotes the health, well-being and safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors.
The policy is intended to minimize the negative effects of secondhand smoke, improve fire safety and encourage a more sustainable environment.
The policy prohibits carrying, smoking, burning, inhaling or exhaling any kind of tobacco product. It also prohibits the use of e-cigarettes.
