Northeastern's Counseling Services provides outreach services and initiatives and can meet with your classes, student organizations, and other programs.

The counselors in Counseling Services are committed to extending our provision of services to the Northeastern community at large. As part of this commitment, we offer programs, workshops, and presentations on various topics to students, faculty, and staff at NEIU. Often, we work in collaboration with faculty, student organizations, and other offices on campus to promote and maintain students' success and wellness.

We ask that you submit your request for an outreach two to three weeks in advance. In addition, we ask that the person requesting the outreach assures that at least eight to 10 participants will attend such outreach. While we will try our best to meet your request, certain times of the year do not allow us the time and resources to do outreach programs.

Presentations requested typically last 45 to 90 minutes and address topics such as:

  • "Counseling 101" ( a review of what counseling typically involves and what resources are available at Student Counseling and Career Services)
  • Stress Management
  • Time Management and Procrastination
  • Study Skills
  • Test Anxiety
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Communication and Relationships
  • Assertiveness
  • Coping with Depression
  • How to refer someone to our office
