Student Health and Counseling Services offer an experiential meditation session at 12:10 p.m. Monday and Thursday during the fall and spring semesters.
You will learn and practice how to relax your body and calm your mind through:
- Gentle body movement
- Breathing techniques
- Guided meditation
- Silent meditation
Who is eligible?
NEIU faculty, staff and students are all eligible to attend meditation sessions.
Do I need prior meditation experience?
No, all levels of experience are welcome.
How long does the session last?
Each session lasts about 40-45 minutes.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No appointment necessary. All sessions are on a drop-in basis.
Do I need to attend every week?
No. You are welcome to attend a session anytime you would like.
What should I wear?
No special clothing is necessary. Everyday attire is fine as long as it allows you to do gentle stretching exercises.
Is there anything I need to bring to the session?
Just bring yourself! We have a limited number of meditation cushions; however, most people sit in a chair.
Please arrive at B 119 by 12:10 p.m. and check in at the front desk. A meditation facilitator will meet you in the waiting area and walk you to our meditation room. You will be asked to complete a brief evaluation form at the end of the session.
