Additional Funding Opportunities
In addition to receiving federal aid, you can apply for need-based scholarships and merit-based scholarships to lower the cost of graduate school. Graduate Assistantships (GA) are also available in some academic units. These positions are highly competitive, but are great opportunities to enrich your graduate studies and help pay for your degree. GA positions offer a stipend and tuition waivers based on your time commitment. Discover more about financing your graduate education.
After determining how you’ll pay for your graduate education, you can start planning your course load by meeting with your graduate advisor.
In your admission offer, you’ll find the name of your advisor. Find their contact information on our graduate advisors list and contact them to schedule an appointment. During your meeting, you can discuss your program's requirements and plan of study to ensure you select the most appropriate courses for your first semester.
Additionally, if you plan on transferring previously earned credits, your advisor can help you determine how they factor into your program requirements.
To change your program of interest, please complete the Graduate Admission Request for Program Change form and email it to graduateadmissions@neiu.edu.
In meeting with your graduate faculty advisor, you'll chart a course to complete your program along your timeline. After settling on your courses for the semester with your advisor, they will enter your approvals, and you can register for classes via NEIUport.
