VA Pending Payment Policy for Students Using Federal VA Benefits
NEIU will not prevent a student’s registration or enrollment if that student is receiving federal VA education benefits and NEIU has not received payment from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In addition, NEIU will not assess a late penalty fee to the student, require that the student to secure alternative or additional funding, or deny the student access to any resource (e.g., access to classes, library, or other institutional facilities) that is available to other students who have satisfied their tuition and fee bills to NEIU.
However, to qualify for the above provision, such student may be required to:
(1) Present a VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) by the first day of class, and (2) submit a written request for enrollment certification (by using the NEIU Veteran Request for Certification form), as well as provide any additional information needed to properly certify the enrollment as described in other institutional policies. All documentation should be provided to the NEIU Veterans Services Office.
Questions should be directed to Veterans Services at veterans@neiu.edu or (773) 442-4005.
