Northeastern Illinois University offers advising services to help you explore majors, understand degree requirements, and learn about University policies and more. Meeting regularly with an academic advisor supports student success by providing information, guidance, and support to help you achieve your academic goals.

For first-time freshmen: After you complete the “Reply to Offer of Admission” on your Enrollment Checklist located in your Application Portal, you will be asked to choose a Success Program before being assigned an academic advisor. Your assigned advisor will contact you directly. If you have questions about these steps or have completed them but have not yet been assigned an advisor, please contact advising@neiu.edu.

For transfer students:

If you are not yet certain about your major or you will have completed less than 30 college credits when you transfer, you can speak to Academic Advisors in the Advising Center Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
