Maheen Syeda, GHRAD Research Assistant

Maheen Syeda

What is most interesting or unique about your research?

I focus on using technology and design to tell human stories, especially ones that risk being forgotten. Through the Global Blackness project and other GHRAD digital projects, I’ve seen how interactive tools can turn research into something living, something that connects with people instead of just sitting in a paper or report.

What do you value most about being part of GHRAD?

It’s the people, honestly. Everyone here brings such different perspectives but shares the same heart for justice and truth. It’s rare to find a space where research, empathy and creativity overlap so naturally.

What originally drew you to your field of study?

I’ve always cared about how stories shape how we see the world and who gets remembered in it. Working with Dr. Jeanine and this team showed me that research can be more than academic, it can be a form of resistance and care.
