The School Health Graduate Certificate is designed to meet the needs of professionals who work in a school setting or with school-related partners. In addition to developing foundational knowledge in health content areas, students are engaged in learning best practices in health education curriculum development, selection and design of assessments, skills-based teaching strategies, school health program planning and evaluation, and school health advocacy. Throughout the program, ongoing attention is given to equity and justice in health education and to developing health-literate individuals.
The program admits students for the fall, spring and summer semesters.
The School Health Graduate Certificate:
- Meets ISBE requirements for certified teachers seeking a cross-endorsement in Health Education
- Prepares students for the Illinois Health Education content test
- Offers fully online, graduate-level coursework
- Utilizes an applied practice approach with attention to the adult learner
