The Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (CCICS) is a satellite facility of Northeastern Illinois University, located on the South Side of Chicago, approximately seventeen miles southeast of the Main Campus. CCICS houses the Department of Educational Inquiry & Curriculum Studies Urban Community Studies (EICS UCS) program, an academic program within the Goodwin College of Education. Through its interdisciplinary curricula, EICS UCS examines the major social, political, economic, and cultural forces that impact inner city communities in America, and around the world. The program is committed to training and retraining persons who desire to live and/or work in the inner city. CCICS also offers a wide range of classes in the arts and sciences drawn from the University's General Education Program.
