Staff member talking with a student

We are very excited to welcome you back to campus for the Spring 2022 semester!

NEIU is dedicated to helping you succeed at helping our students succeed, and that includes prioritizing the health and safety of our campus community. Each day, take a moment to check in with yourself and be mindful of your physical and emotional health. Take proper precautions and seek care if you are ill. Don't forget to consider your emotional well-being.

Unless considered essential staff or staff in critical departments, all staff at the Main Campus, Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (CCICS) and El Centro are advised to work remotely for a three-week period from Jan. 11-30, 2022. All faculty and staff are required to resume work in their physical on-campus locations on Jan. 31, 2022. At this time, all remote operations will conclude. Employees may request reasonable accommodation, but must do so following the University’s Reasonable Accommodation for Employees and Applicants with Disabilities policy. Northeastern has adopted an Interim COVID-19 Policy, which we encourage you to review.

All three University locations will remain open during this three-week period. Further, please note that critical areas impacting University operations will still be active on campus during this time and key employees in these critical areas will be required to continue to work on campus.

  • All members of the Northeastern Illinois University community are also required to get a COVID-19 booster shot as soon as they are eligible per the CDC Booster Shot guidelines.
  • Individuals who have already been exempted from the vaccination requirement due to medical or religious reasons will be exempt from the booster requirement. Exempt individuals are still required to test weekly for COVID-19.
  • Employees are required to report positive COVID-19 test results to Human Resources at (773) 442-5200 or
