COLLEGE OF BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY

No Fear, No Limits
Alecia Martin has an entrepreneurial spirit and has her sights set high.

Business for The People
Money is important to Steve Deeloo. Really important. It’s a value the Northeastern Illinois University senior developed growing up with his family in Iraq with little to get by.

The Beach Means Business
This is not just another stop on the pro beach volleyball tour for Raffe Paulis—it’s in his home city, and only a few miles from where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance at Northeastern.

The People Side of Business
When you ask College of Business and Management Dean Michael Bedell what he loves most about Northeastern, his answer is simple: “It’s the people."

Invested in Internships
With a dream job already lined up after graduation, Finance major Julio E. Arreola is looking forward to spring Commencement.

Stellar Sisters
Northeastern Illinois University alumna Sylwia Zalinska (B.S. ’18 Psychology) and her sister, Aneta (B.S. Marketing, expected Fall ’20), co-founded a shop that has been featured on a national talk show and sold out an entire line of products for the 2020 holiday season.

Love and Learning
As John and Marianela Crissman prepare to celebrate their third Valentine’s Day as a married couple, they are less than three months away from earning their M.S. in Computer Science degrees together.
Welcome to the College of Business and Technology
We foster excellent faculty and student research and will help you engage with entrepreneurs to gain real-world experience. In an increasingly global business climate, the College brings an eclectic world-view to the classroom that is unique among Chicago.
The College of Business and Technology at Northeastern Illinois University has grown from a few business courses to a separate college that is part of a vibrant, urban university. In 2024 we celebrated our 40th Anniversary as a college at Northeastern.
The College of Business and Technology (CBT) prepares you for a successful career in business, technology, or further study at the graduate level. Currently, the College has three departments: Accounting, Business Law, and Finance; Computer Science; and Marketing and Management. Together they provide about 250 class sections each year in eight different majors, as well as fifteen different minors. We are accredited by AACSB International. We are also pursuing ABET Accreditation for our Computer Science programs.
Pieces of the Mosaic: Alumni Perspectives
At the College of Business and Technology, we believe that every student brings something unique to the table — a vision, a voice, a drive to grow and lead. Our programs are designed to nurture that potential, offering a space where diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and ambitions are not only welcomed, but celebrated.
We take pride in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where students become professionals, innovators, and changemakers. Our alumni represent the rich mosaic of CBT — a dynamic network of individuals who continue to shape industries, communities, and futures.

"NEIU helped me secure my first job at PwC, setting the foundation for my career in investment banking. Professors at Northeastern are incredibly caring and dedicated. They’re willing to take their time to listen to students' needs and help them achieve their goals. I developed my leadership capabilities through my experiences at NEIU College of Business and Technology, benefitting my career in the long-run."
Aneta Zalinska | B.S. Marketing, '20; MBA, '22
"While I was a student at CBT, I was also working as a tutor and that really helped me understand the concepts I was learning in class better, as I taught it to other classmates. That really taught me time management skills and how to prioritize tasks, which has helped me in both my personal and professional lives."
