Program Benefits

Art and Graphic Design Majors

This minor benefits Art majors who concentrate in Studio Art and who want to be competitive in the field of photography. Art majors would choose an area of emphasis under the Studio Art concentration (other than photography) and also complete the Photography minor. The Photography minor also serves as a complement to the B.F.A. in Graphic Design.

Non-Art Majors

This minor opens up a photography education to non-art majors and might complement areas of study such as Anthropology, Geography, Biology, Communication, Media, Journalism, Dance or Marketing and also has the flexibility to be a minor for students in unrelated fields who have a passion for photography.

Career Options

The Photography Minor provides students with applicable skills to pursue positions in fields such as:

  • Commercial and industrial photography
  • Photojournalism
  • Fine arts photography
  • Freelance photography
  • Scientific photography
  • Design field-related photography (graphic design, fashion design, set design, etc.)
