Northeastern Illinois University Psychology professor Masami Takahashi and recent graduate Cathy Samatas (M.A. Gerontology ’13) will present their research at the Gerontological Society of America annual conference on Nov. 5-9 in Washington, D.C.
Their presentation is titled “Grief vs. Depression: A Defining Line in Older Adults With Age Related Macular Degeneration.”
The results of Takahashi and Samatas’ study suggest there is a measurable difference between grief and depression, which supports researchers who have been investigating the differences between the symptomology, course and prognosis of each condition.
