Northeastern to host Women in Operations Management Panel Discussion

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

The Association for Operations Management (APICS) will host its annual Women in Operations Management Panel Discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Northeastern Illinois University.

The panel, moderated by Kraft Foods Senior Manager Nancy Villani, will consist of a diverse group of women who are all successful operations professionals. They will share personal stories in what led to their current positions and encourage people to strive for leadership roles in the operations field.

“Women are a minority issue,” said Jian Li, M.B.A. program coordinator and associate professor in the College of Business and Management. “This shows advocacy for women in the field of operations.”

The panel will provide a unique perspective on matters surrounding operations management, but the topics of discussion are not gender-specific. The event is free and open to the public, and attendees will be able to meet with the panelists after the discussion.

“This event benefits our students,” Li said. “It gives them the chance to socialize and network with professionals in the business field.”
