Degree Requirements

Program Structure

The program is based on a cohort model and students can complete the program in two calendar years, taking two classes per semester year-round (fall, spring and summer).The program requires 36 credit hours to earn the masters degree in Higher Education. 

Students enroll for two courses each semester. Classes are held Tuesday evenings each semester: the first class is at 4:15-6:55 p.m. and the second class is at 7:05-9:45 p.m., convenient for working professionals. Currently, classes are taught in a hybrid model both in-person and on-line. This year’s Cohort 18 is hosted at El Centro NEIU campus located in Avondale, Chicago.

  • LEAD 497: Student Personnel Work in Higher Education
  • LEAD 490: The Adult Learner (Elective)
  • LEAD 496-B: The Problematic Pipeline: Latinas and Latinos in Higher Education (Elective)
  • LEAD 496C: Critical Policy Issues in Latinx Higher Education (Elective)

  • LEAD 413: Human Relations and Leadership
