Hosting a Summer Program

Exchange summer programs allow a group of students from a partner university or a group of students from outside the U.S. to take part in a classes or other activity. These programs are short-term and can take place throughout the summer semester or for just a couple of weeks. The Office of International programs (OIP) will help the group obtain their DS-2019s (also known as a Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor [J-1] Status) in order for them to obtain a J-1 visa at their local U.S. Consulate/Embassy. We recommend submitting the documents no later than February 1 to allow enough time for visa processing.

The department or faculty member inviting the group will need to identify what the group will be doing at NEIU.

For more information, please contact OIP.
