Our History
The vision for the Latino/a Resource Center came from a small portable trailer that was known as “P1” that was set up as a gathering space for students of color, faculty, and staff to provide support mechanisms for students of color at the university. Through activism, inspiration, and collaboration between students, student organizations, administrators, community leaders, and alumni, the vision became reality!
Our Principles
The Latino/a Resource Center supports the core values of diversity and multiculturalism in Northeatern Illinois University’s mission and the Pedroso Center’s commitment to social justice through advocacy on behalf of Latina/o students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other members of the university community. The center provides programs and initiatives that enhance Social Enrichment, Cultural Awareness, Academic Success, Leadership Development, and Community Engagement.
