Background

Susan joined the Institutional Research staff in September 2018 having worked previously for many years at the Chicago Public Schools where she oversaw the admission process for magnet, selective enrollment and International Baccalaureate schools. More recently, she worked at the University of Chicago researching the effects of ninth grade intervention efforts to bolster graduation rates. Susan’s research interests include educational equity, literacy and social and human capital in schools.

Background

Dr. Sun joined the IR team September, 2018. She earned her doctorate in computational mathematics at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Prior to joining NEIU, she worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a researcher focusing on Lithium batteries and then at NowSecure Inc. as a research scientist focusing on mobile app security. She has received Department of Defense grant and published in several research journals. She has now transferred her interest to assisting student success and improving institutional retention rate.
