Donald “Don” Heggemann, who served as the office administrator for the Department of Art + Design, died on Oct. 23, 2023. 

CHICAGO—Today Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) and Korean American Community Services held a ceremony to mark the beginning of a new formal partnership between the two institutions. Sharon Hahs, president of Northeastern Illinois University, and Inchul Choi executive director of Korean American Community Services, ceremoniously signed a partnership agreement at the event held this morning at the Korean American Community Services offices on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

Northeastern Illinois University's Commencement is scheduled for 4 p.m. May 12 at Credit Union 1 Arena (formerly UIC Pavilion), 525 S. Racine Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are required. The ceremony will be streamed live at neiu.edu.

This year’s conference will be held from March 7-8, with a special workshop day March 9. It will feature a multimedia exhibit that highlights survivors of the 1972 Burundi genocide.

Durbin, the 47th U.S. Senator from the State of Illinois, will be Northeastern Illinois University’s December 2022 Commencement speaker.

Northeastern Illinois University awarded tenure and promotion to associate professor to nine members of the faculty, effective Aug. 16. 2023. The following faculty members were introduced and approved by the Board of Trustees to receive this promotion during the Board’s April 13, 2023 meeting.
