With the Chicago mayoral election approaching on Feb. 24, Northeastern Illinois University is encouraging eligible voters to register to vote by the Jan. 27 deadline.
The University has partnered with TurboVote to make the voter registration process quick and easy for Northeastern students and staff. The free, online service allows individuals to register to vote and receive updates on upcoming elections via text and email. Users can also verify or update their voter registration and request an absentee ballot form be sent by mail.
“I am very pleased Northeastern Illinois University is part of this exciting national initiative to bring voter registration to our students,” Vice President for Student Affairs Frank E. Ross said. “We are very committed to engaging our students in the life of their communities. Active participation in the electoral process is one way to advance their civic learning and democratic engagement.”
TurboVote is available to Northeastern through the University’s involvement with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
