Northeastern Illinois University Department of History Assistant Professor Joshua Salzmann and Associate Dean of Libraries Dave Green have co-authored a grant proposal that was awarded $4,999 by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries. The proposal was titled “Unlocking Chicago’s History: A Guide to Conducting Research in Chicago City Government Records.”

They will lead a team of Northeastern librarians and researchers in tracking down the scattered, sometimes hidden records of the city of Chicago dating from 1833 to the dawn of the 21st century.

Northeastern’s team will create a multimedia, text-and-video guide to using city government documents. The guide will be made available to students, scholars, and librarians on the website of the Ronald Williams Library.
