Critically acclaimed Doreen’s Jazz New Orleans will perform at Northeastern Illinois University on Oct. 16.

Led by clarinetist Doreen Ketchens, Doreen’s Jazz New Orleans is a group whose primary interest lies in spreading the culture and traditional music of New Orleans all over the world through performances and education.

Doreen's Jazz New Orleans has represented New Orleans and the United States around the world, performing in Africa, Asia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Europe, Mexico, Russia and the U.S. They have performed for four United States presidents, including Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter.

The group will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium at 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Tickets are $25, $17.50 and $5 and can be purchased at neiu.edu/tickets or by calling (773) 442-4636.

This performance is presented as part of the Jewel Box Series, an eight-concert professional performing arts series presented by Northeastern Illinois University’s Office of Cultural Events.
