Ensemble Español, in residence at Northeastern Illinois University, will present its annual Family Holiday Concert Series and Concierto Familiar in December.

The sold-out Tales of Spain Holiday Concert, a multimedia Spanish dance and music concert series for grade and high school students and families, will be presented Dec. 15 and 16.

The Concierto Familiar will take place Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium on the Main Campus, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago.

The Ensemble’s full company of 40 dancers will perform the dances of Spain in all three styles of Spanish dance: classical, folkloric/regional, and Flamenco in the traditional and contemporary forms.

Concert highlights include the premiere work of “Reina Gitana/Gypsy Queen” by principal dancer Clauda Pizarro, Dame Libby Komaiko’s “La Era Romantica” and the return to the stage of Raquel Gomez’ “Sur.”

Tickets for the Concierto Familiar are $20, $25 and $30.
