Events curated by the El Centro team you do not want to miss. These events are only held on site and are our biggest events of the year!
 

La Taquiza 

A taquiza is a taco party! Warm tortillas, a lineup of fillings, and enough salsa to feed a whole neighborhood. It's how our families celebrate baptisms, graduations, quinceañeras, etc. Every September, El Centro brings that tradition into our parking lot: tacos, dessert, music, and activities, all part of Latinx Heritage Month. Students, families, and neighbors from Avondale and neighboring communities build a plate and stay a while. Come and indulge in a beautiful showing of culture and celebrate what makes this University so great! Come hungry and ready to dance!

El Mercadito 

El Mercadito allows local vendors and small business' to come out and use our space as a market. Everyone is welcome to come and shop around a variety of products ranging from arts and crafts to food and drinks! We will be raffling off select products from vendors at the end of the event for those who participate and donate to the El Centro Endowment Fund!

Noche De Estrellas

Noche de ESTRELLAS, which stands for Empowering Students Through Recognition and Encouragement, Leading Leaders to Achieve Success, is El Centro’s annual signature awards ceremony where we celebrate the many achievements of our students. To help us honor our students, we also invite family and friends to enjoy a lovely evening full of music and a delicious dinner. This event is for current and previous El Centro Scholars only!
