Assistant Professor in Mathematics - Math Education/ Math Development

POSITION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The Mathematics Department at Northeastern Illinois University invites applications for one (1) tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor starting Fall,2016. We seek faculty with a Ph.D. or D.A. in Mathematics who will work primarily with our mathematics teacher education and developmental mathematics programs. The Mathematics Department works closely with the College of Education to maintain a wide variety of K-12 teacher preparation and advancement programs with a strong foundation in mathematics content. Additionally, the Mathematics Department offers a number of courses and initiatives aimed at serving students who place into developmental mathematics. Experience in K-12 mathematics education and/or developmental mathematics is preferred but not required. Candidates must be (i) qualified to teach and develop curricula for the Math Department's traditional mathematics offerings,and (ii) be willing to engage in professional development in order to contribute to and expand our teacher education and developmental mathematics offerings. Applicants should thus submit cover letters that directly address their experience with or specific interest in K-12 mathematics teacher preparation and developmental mathematics. The Mathematics Department recognizes researchin mathematics or related fields,including Mathematics Education.
