Position:

The Department of Art invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the area of Art and Technology to begin August 2016.

qualifications:

MFA in Art and Technology with expertise in the following areas: digital imaging, expanded media, installation/projection design, 3D modeling, 3D printing, laser cutting, new media and creative coding.

The successful candidate will have a strong exhibition record, which reflects a creative practice that utilizes digital tools, and a comprehensive knowledge of contemporary digital technologies as they relate to a fine art practice and who is creatively and critically engaged in the practices and discourses of Digital/ New Media art. The candidate will have an interdisciplinary approach to teaching that engages in emerging technologies as well as relationships across multiple disciplines such as traditional art practices, the humanities and the sciences.

Teaching duties include teaching foundation, introductory and advanced digital art courses. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and implement curriculum related to a program that serves a diverse population of undergraduate majors and will be able to teach a variety of digital art studio courses at multiple levels in an art curriculum. Additional responsibilities involve curriculum development, mentoring of students and overseeing labs/equipment associated with the courses taught.

Previous university teaching experience is highly desirable or demonstration of potential for excellence in teaching. Service to the department, university, community, and profession is expected.
