Request for Certification
Veterans must complete the Veteran Request for Certification Form (Fillable) every semester prior to the end of the Change of Registration deadline. Late submissions may not be able to be processed owing to federal and state deadlines for benefits processing. Forms are processed in the order they are received, so it is recommended that students submit the form as soon as they complete their registration. Early submission allows for timely processing of Veterans benefits.
Forms can be submitted to the office by completing the form online, via email or fax, or in person. The Admissions and Transfer reception staff can take the form if the Veteran staff is not available.
Academic Advising Verification
Veterans must complete the Academic Advising Verification form every semester that they intend to use federal benefits. The form acts as a confirmation of a student’s course registration, by the academic advisor, verifying that the student’s enrollment for the term aligns with what is required for their program of study.
The form should be returned prior to the end of each semester’s Change of Registration deadline along with the Veteran Request for Certification form.
Forms are processed in the order they are received, so it is recommended that students submit the form as soon as they have finalized their registration and have obtained their academic advisor’s signature on the document.
Completed forms can either be emailed to veterans@neiu.edu or they can be dropped off in person.
