Visiting Artist Program
Each semester, the NEIU Art + Design Visiting Artist Program offers two residency opportunities for emerging to mid-career Chicago-based artists:
- NEIU Art + Design Studio Residency
- NEIU Art + Design RISO Residency
Visiting Artists are awarded an honorarium and have a semester-long access to NEIU Art + Design facilities specific to their project. Over the course of their residency, the Visiting Artist showcases their work in a public academic forum, leads a hands-on workshop, and participates in a Portfolio Review Day for NEIU’s Art + Design students. They also have a culminating group exhibition with fellow residents in the NEIU Fine Arts Center Gallery.
The Visiting Artist Program strives to create visible connections between our diverse population of art and design students with working artists who embody these identities. This interaction provides invaluable insights and inspiration to our students, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and techniques. Visiting Artists should demonstrate a commitment to their artistic practice and an interest in engaging with NEIU’s students and creative community.
Current Residents
Studio Art Resident, Spring 2026
Antonius-Tín Bui is a polydisciplinary artist and shapeshifter invested in the transformative potential of improvisation, portraiture, craft, and ritual. A monsoon in a past life, they see themself most in movement—in wind, in the shifting blues of the sky, in the quiet sway between presence and disappearance. The child of Paul and Van Bui, two Vietnamese refugees who carved futures from grief and grit, Antonius-Tín carries their legacy in every gesture. Their work honors the spectral, the tender, and the unruly—crafting portals for what cannot be named, only felt, only danced with ancestral shadow.
They hold a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (2016) and have exhibited nationally, with recent solo shows at Various Small Fires in Dallas (2024), moniquemeloche in Chicago (2026, 2023), and Hudson D. Walker Gallery in Provincetown (2020).

RISO Resident, Spring 2026
Jasjyot Singh Hans is an illustrator unendingly inspired by an explosive neon mix of fashion, music and pop culture. He has a constant regard for things past and a voracity for all that is current. He studied animation film design at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and has an MFA in Illustration Practice from Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore. His practice involves drawing, printmaking, self publishing zines as well as gallery work. His work chronicles themes of queerness, body image, Sikh identity and human connection.
