How to Apply for Housing at The Nest

Start Your Housing Journey

Living at The Nest begins with completing your Housing Application through the eRezLife portal. This application helps us learn more about you and your living preferences so we can create a residential experience that supports your success.
Within the application, students will provide information related to:

  • Sleeping and study habits
  • Lifestyle preferences and shared living expectations
  • Roommate requests (optional)
  • Room type preferences

Students will also review and agree to the Housing Terms & Conditions, which outline expectations and next steps in the housing process.

All students interested in living on campus must complete the online Housing Application in eRezLife.

  • The application becomes available after admission to NEIU
  • Only one application is required for the full academic year (Fall 2026 – Spring 2027)

Important:
Students must complete their own application, as it includes personal lifestyle questions used for roommate matching and placement.

Students have the option to request roommates through the Roommate Matching system (Roomeez) within eRezLife.

  • Students may search for and connect with potential roommates
  • Roommate requests must be mutual to be confirmed
  • Students can form Roommate Groups for placement consideration

Students who do not select a roommate will be matched based on their application responses.

Housing assignments are made based on:

  • Application completion date (priority consideration)
  • Availability of space and room types
  • Student preferences indicated in the application

While we strive to meet preferences, specific room types or placements are not guaranteed.
 

What Happens Next?

After you submit your application:

  1. Your application is reviewed for eligibility
  2. You will receive updates via your NEIU email
  3. Housing assignments are released in late July-Early August
  4. Move-in information will follow your assignment

Assignment Timeline

  • Housing Assignments Released: Late July – Early August to NEIU emails
  • Move-In: Prior to the start of the Fall semester (dates shared with assignment)
     

Housing at The Nest is billed through your NEIU student account and varies by room type.

Key Costs

  • Housing Rates: Based on room type (see Housing Rates page)
  • $50 Application Fee: Required to submit your housing application
  • $250 Housing Deposit: Required to secure your housing assignment
