Ensemble Español embraces ‘New Era, New Works, New Legacies’ in 45th season
Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theatre, in residence at Northeastern Illinois University, marks its 45th season from August 2020 through July 2021. The season, titled “Zafiro Flamenco (Sapphire Flamenco): New Era, New Works, New Legacies,” will feature new partnerships, new works, virtual programs plus a new $300,000 anonymous matching grant opportunity with a total potential earnings of $1 million.

STARTALK awards Northeastern grant to train Arabic-language educators
STARTALK, an organization whose mission is to increase the number of United States citizens learning, speaking and teaching critical need foreign languages, has awarded Northeastern Illinois University a $57,328 grant for a new Multilingual Learning Center (MLC) program. The intensive teacher training summer program, STARTALK: Summer 2018 Language Teacher Training Institute, will train a group of 20 to 25 Arabic-language speakers and educators to teach elementary-age students by equipping them with curriculum development and foreign language instruction pedagogy.

If you ask Wanda Nguyen about her career plans, she does not hesitate with her answer: She will graduate from Northeastern Illinois University, attend dental school and eventually become an orthodontist, she says. And then she smiles.
