Register for Placement Testing
Placement exams measure your math, reading, and writing abilities. Students can take placement exams on campus or online. All testers must have already applied and been admitted to NEIU. They must also have an NEIU student ID number and an NEIU email address.
All placement testing is available at all three campus locations: Main, El Centro, and CCICS campuses.
All testers must present a physical photo ID. There are no exceptions to this rule. Individuals without a photo ID will not be allowed to test. A picture of a photo ID will not be accepted.

Do I Need Placement Testing to Take Classes at NEIU?
It depends. You may be able to bypass placement testing due to alternative placement measures. In other words, if you have a high enough high school GPA or ACT/SAT score, you may not need placement testing. Please read our placement methods page to learn more.

SAT/ACT scores or transitional Math course

A cumulative, weighted GPA of 3.25 or higher for recent graduates of U.S. high schools waives the English test.

Transfer credit from other institutions.

ACCUPLACER Reading, Writeplacer, Quantitative or Advanced Math placement test scores
Official transcripts/scores must be submitted to NEIU Admissions (admissions@neiu.edu).
