SCSE Research Program
The SCSE Summer Research and Professional Training Program
The Student Center for Science Engagement offers a training program every summer for NEIU undergraduate students. Once selected, students earn a stipend while working with NEIU STEM faculty on hands-on research projects on different science and math topics.
Program Elements
- 20-30 hours/week for immersive research
- Training by faculty mentors
- Professional development workshops by the SCSE
- Summer Research picnic and social events
- Advising for career planning and check-ins throughout the program
- Required participation in the SCSE Research Symposium
Application and Eligibility
Students must be enrolled at NEIU in the Spring when they submit their application and be continuing at NEIU for the Fall semester following their participation in the summer research program. The application will be shared in late February and the deadline is in late March. The best way to receive the application information is to be subscribed to the SCSE Email List where the application is released each Spring. You can also contact SCSE@neiu.edu anytime with questions or requests for the application form.

- Resume or C.V.
- Unofficial transcripts
- Names of 2 references (letters not required)
