Noteworthy at Northeastern: Preserving history
U.S. Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (B.A. ’76 English) donated his Congressional archives to Northeastern Illinois University upon his retirement. The archives have been digitized and are now available for public viewing! Fall 2021 classes begin on Monday and self-care tips this week focus on resources here at NEIU. Professor Emerita, Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs namesake Angelina Pedroso dies at 90
Angelina Pedroso, for whom Northeastern Illinois University named its multicultural center after her 44-year career as a respected Spanish language and Hispanic literature educator, died on Oct. 7 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 90 years old.

Northeastern Illinois University honors Ana Castillo with Distinguished Alumnus Award
Northeastern Illinois University honored celebrated poet, essayist, activist, novelist and scholar Ana Castillo with the Distinguished Alumnus Award during the annual Golden Gala and Alumni Awards. This year’s ceremony, emceed by 2011 Distinguished Alumnus Award winner and retired WGN anchor Robert Jordan, took place Oct. 17.
