Entrepreneurship Instructor

The College of Business and Technology at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) invites applications for one full-time instructor focused on entrepreneurship and business innovation in the Department of Management. This position will start in late Fall 2026, pending final funding approval.

Minimum requirements

Applicants should have a Masters degree (or higher) in a business-related field by the starting date of appointment. This appointment may be converted to tenure-track in the future if the required degrees exist, and appropriate funding is procured. The ideal candidate will also have experience as a founder of a new business or a continuing generation of a family business.

The successful candidate should be able to teach traditional undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of entrepreneurship as well as seminar type courses through the NEIU CBT Business Innovation and Growth (BIG) center. They should also have the personal engagement skills necessary to engage in service activities related to community outreach. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching is required. Relevant business experience will also be helpful.

Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for delivering the equivalent of 8 courses per year and some service activities. Teaching assignments may include (a) traditional courses (entrepreneurship, small business management, business practicum, business internship); (b) seminars for BIG (“Build Your Own Business”); (c) serve as a thought partner and provide guidance to our BIG founders; (d) develop new curriculum as appropriate for BIG participants, and (e) engage in service activities related to the entrepreneurship enterprise of CBT/BIG. This position reports to the Department Chair of Management and Marketing with a dotted-line report to the Executive Director of the BIG center.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. University employees may be eligible for a variety of State of Illinois benefits.
