The 82: Writers Reading
The 82 is the Creative Writing minor's reading series, featuring distinguished Chicago writers of all genres, Northeastern faculty members and Northeastern student writers. The series hosts four to six events per academic year, and is named after the CTA's Kimball bus line, which gets many Chicagoans to our Main Campus and El Centro locations.
Past Events
Spring 2026 was a busy term for The 82 and the Writing & Literature Collective!
The 82: Student Edition

Creative Writing students brought a satisfying close to the term by reading to their peers and teachers from their own works, composed during their Spring CW classes.
The event was well attended and gave the student authors a chance to shine. Featured during the April 23 program were Darya Gooden Jr., Aasiyah Bhaiji, Natalia Carroll, Sadia Durrani, Jessica Gramajo, Flavio Lagunas, Ariel Liebhaber, Carmen Martinez, Jason Nguyen, and J Thomas.
Author Event: Megan Milks
April 9, 2026
The 82, with the Writing & Literature Collective, will often host visiting authors to speak about their works. In April, we were pleased to welcome Megan Milks, author of Mega Milk: Essays on Family, Fluidity, Whiteness, and Cows. The author's resulting talk was witty, thoughtful, poignant and surprisingly pellucid, as they wove together the various meanings and meta-meanings implied by their name.
This event was sponsored by the English Department, the Creative Writing and WGSS Programs, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
