Election Code

All Student Government candidates shall be governed by the Election Code and are strongly encouraged to read the Election Code. Each candidate (including write-in candidates) is totally and individually responsible for all campaign acts of his/her campaign organization. Please note that during these unprecedented times, some portions of the code won't apply due to limited access to campus. We appreciate your understanding.

Candidate Registration Form

The candidate registration form must be completed and submitted by noon on Wednesday April 8.

Candidate Bio

The candidate bio form must be completed and submitted by noon on Thursday, April 9.

Write-In Petition

If you do not fill out the Candidate Registration form and view the candidate training video (forthcoming) you may still run as a write-in. The following expectations are still to be followed:

  • Campaign regulations must be upheld (Please refer to the Election Code)  
  • At least 25 students need to write in your full name on the ballot (spelled correctly)
  • Fill out the write-in candidate form prior to Senate ratification which verifies you have accepted this position
Candidate Orientation

Candidate Orientation will be held in person and via Zoom. Please see the SGA Important Dates Election Timeline page for dates and times.

Student Government Election FAQs

Yes. All candidates must follow the Election Code and are responsible for their campaign.

 

To appear on the ballot, you must:

  • Attend candidate orientation
  • Submit the candidate application and photo
  • Meet GPA and enrollment requirements 

  • 2.0 GPA: Senator or COC Representative

  • 2.25 GPA: Executive Board

  • 2.5 GPA: Student Trustee

  • All candidates: Must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours

  • Executive Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, PR Director, Treasurer): Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours

  • Student Trustee: Must be a full-time student

You can still run as a write-in candidate.

  • Follow all campaign rules

  • Receive at least 25 correctly spelled votes

  • Submit the write-in candidate form before the results ratification date

Yes, it is offered both in person and via Zoom.
