Biography
Carolina Nava is a first-generation graduate of Northeastern Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Social Work. Her own experience navigating higher education as a first-generation student gave her a deep understanding of the unique challenges these students face and ignited her passion for helping others succeed. Before joining El Centro, Carolina spent two years with NEIU Title V: Caminos Al Éxito, where she supported students with college applications, FAFSA completion, dual enrollment, and one-on-one mentoring. Now as an advisor at El Centro, Carolina plays a central role in student success initiatives. She coordinates FAFSA workshops, supports students with financial aid guidance and course registration, and oversees the Success Workshop series for El Centro's freshman cohort. Carolina also conducts proactive student outreach, helping students navigate academic challenges and connecting them with campus resources. She collaborates across departments to bring meaningful programming to students, from professional development workshops to mental health awareness sessions.
