Background

Annette is devoted to improving the lives of historically marginalized individuals, with specialized expertise in supporting survivors of gender-based violence and people with disabilities. Her background in mental health and dedication to trauma-informed care and advocacy empower her to provide essential support to those facing systemic barriers during some of life's most challenging events. At Northeastern Illinois University, Annette is responsible for raising awareness about sexual violence in all its forms, inspiring action, and fostering cultural change. She leads the awareness and prevention initiative known as The K(NO)W More Project. This project, driven by The K(NO)W More Team, is committed to ensuring that survivors of sexual violence are treated respectfully and listened to carefully.
