Monday, April 27, 2026
Northeastern Illinois University will host its first Black @ NEIU event to assist admitted and prospective students in becoming full-fledged Golden Eagles.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. It will be held on the Main Campus, 5500 N. St. Louis Avenue, in Chicago, in Lech Walesa Hall, Room LWH 1002. Free parking will be available on the top floor of the Parking Facility. View the Campus Map and Directions page for details on how to get to the University. RSVP is strongly encouraged, but not required. Lunch will be provided.
Erica Brown-Pierce is the Director of Project Success and the lead organizer of this event.
“The goal of Black @ NEIU is to build a sense of community,” Brown-Pierce said. “We want our students to feel that they belong here.”
During the event, students and their families will gain valuable insight into the college experience, peer mentorship opportunities, financial aid options, student housing and the chance to complete the next steps of enrollment.
The day will include:
- A Financial Aid and student payment interactive workshop
- Information about student housing and University life
- Sessions led by Student Disability Services and Student Counseling Services
- Guidance on next steps toward enrollment
- A current student panel and games
“Throughout the day, new students and their families will meet some of the Black students, faculty and staff at Northeastern,” Brown-Pierce said. “This is a great opportunity for them to meet their village ahead of Fall 2026.”
Questions can be directed to Brown-Pierce at (773) 442-4170 or e-brown7@neiu.edu.
