Health Sciences & Physical Education, Educational Foundations, and Urban Community Studies
The Department of Health Sciences & Physical Education, Educational Foundations, and Urban Community Studies offers undergraduate degrees to students interested in Community Health and Urban Community Studies. Students seeking teacher licensure in Physical Education can enroll in an undergraduate degree program or, if they already have a bachelor’s degree, a post-baccalaureate program. Graduate students can further their career aspirations by earning degrees in Community and Teacher Leadership, Exercise and Sport Science, Public Health, and Urban Community Studies.
At the doctoral level, the Leadership, Equity and Inquiry Ed.D. (LEI), starting in Fall 2026 will prepare scholar-practitioners to examine the dynamics of leadership, organizational change and management, and to reflect on the social and structural elements via an interdisciplinary study of Chicago, its communities and institutions.
