The Chicago Film Society and Northeastern Illinois University are pleased to announce their Spring 2025 film series.

Screenings will be held in the Auditorium of the University’s Main Campus, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago. Tickets cost $5 with a Northeastern ID and $10 for the general public. If anyone is interested in attending, but is having financial hardships, please contact info@chicagofilmsociety.org. Complimentary parking for audience members on Wednesday nights is available in Parking Lot D adjacent to the Bryn Mawr entrance.

Additional screenings take place at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave. in Chicago.

This is the Chicago Film Society’s and Northeastern’s 25th and final season of collaboration, which is sponsored by the Department of Communication, Media and Theatre. Highlights include “The Love Parade” (the 1929 Ernst Lubitsch film starring Jeanette MacDonald and Maurice Chevalier), “Corn’s-A-Poppin’” (a CFS restoration of a 1955 film co-written by Robert Altman), “My Winnipeg” (Guy Maddin’s 2007 “docu-fantasia” about his homeland of Canada), “Light of Day” (starring Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett) and “The Band Wagon” (Vincente Minnelli’s 1953 Technicolor musical starring Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse).

“It has been a wonderful 10 years of this collaboration where the NEIU community has been able to watch some of the greatest films of all time lovingly projected on 35mm celluloid film,” said Professor of Communication, Media and Theatre Shayne Pepper, who helped foster the partnership between Northeastern and the Chicago Film Society. “This is a rare opportunity to see these movies on actual 35mm film. So, if you love cinema, don’t miss out!”
