Position Overview

The Northeastern Illinois University (“NEIU”) Board of Trustees and the President Search Committee announce a national search for the University’s eighth president. NEIU invites applications, nominations and expressions of interest for this exciting leadership opportunity. The University seeks an innovative, inspirational president with a demonstrated track record of success in enrollment management and strategic planning. The new president will be a collaborative champion of public urban education, an advocate for academic quality, and a strong advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. 

Northeastern Illinois University, a Hispanic-Serving and Minority Serving institution, is one of the most diverse public comprehensive universities in the Midwest and a leader in affordability. Located in Chicago, the nation’s third-largest city, the University has a proud tradition of preparing graduates who contribute to the economy and quality of life in Chicagoland and beyond. Founded in 1867, NEIU has a rich tradition of educational innovation and prides itself on preparing teachers and administrators who make a difference in Chicago. Located on 67 acres in an attractive residential area on the Northwest Side of Chicago, the University offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate programs in the arts, sciences, education, and business. The University has additional locations in the metropolitan area: The Jacob Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies, El Centro and University Center of Lake County.
