The University participates in several statewide and national surveys. Survey results are posted on the following links as they become available.
National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)
The annual National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) obtains information from Northeastern freshmen and seniors about their participation in programs and activities. Survey items on the NSSE reflect behaviors by students and institutions that are associated with desired outcomes of college. Profiles of recent Northeastern samples:

The reports can be used in conjunction with the NSSE’s “A Pocket Guide to Choosing a College.” This guide is available in English and in Spanish at NSSE Guide. It provides a road map of important questions all prospective students should ask when choosing a college. Many of the answers to these questions can be found in the above Brief Reports. Presentations on NSSE data analysis can be viewed below.
Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) Faculty Survey
The HERI Faculty Survey is designed to provide colleges and universities with timely information about the attitudes, experiences, concerns, job satisfaction, workload, teaching practices, and professional activities of collegiate faculty.
The survey is offered every three years. Recent survey results are provided in the pdf files below. Northeastern faculty member responses are compared to faculty members at public four-year colleges, and more generally with faculty at all four-year institutions.
Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE)
Alumni Survey Northeastern conducts an IBHE Alumni Survey one-year post graduation and a five-year and a nine-year post-graduation every three years. The IBHE alumni survey includes questions on career preparation and employment experiences, advanced degrees, effectiveness of Northeastern instruction, and satisfaction with the University.
