Yes. All students who participate in the Commencement ceremony will have their name read aloud, in addition to having their name displayed on the big screen. You will receive a name card at check-in that will have your name on it. You can write the phonetic spelling on the card if your name is difficult to pronounce. Keep this card with you at all times. Hand it to the reader as you move toward the podium. Your name will be called from this card.

What if I don't want to walk in the Commencement ceremony?
You are not required to walk in the Commencement Ceremony, and you may still graduate and receive your diploma if you decide not to participate in Commencement. Once the semester is complete and final grades are calculated, those who have earned their diplomas will be notified by mail as to how they can pick up or have their diplomas sent to them.
I want to walk in the Commencement ceremony, but I'm not sure if I'll be there or not. What should I do?
If you want to participate in Commencement, but are not sure if you will be able to, the Office of Student Union, Event and Conference Services recommends that you collect your tickets and plan to attend. On the day of Commencement, graduates will be given name cards that will indicate who is present that day. If you plan to attend Commencement, but then are unable to, you will not create any disruptions on Commencement Day.
May I leave the ceremony after I walk across the stage?
No. Please remember that leaving early disturbs the ceremony and is inconsiderate to other students and their family and guests. Students and guests are asked not to leave the ceremony before the entire procession has ended.
How long is the ceremony?
The ceremony lasts approximately three hours.
How do I arrange special seating or special parking for my guests or myself?
