Chicago’s Women in Music

This year's Chicago's Women in Music will feature artists from the Chicago-based opera company Thompson Street Opera. General Manager Claire Divizio and Music Director Alexandra Enyart will talk about starting and running an opera company. They will address the challenges and rewards of pursuing entrepreneurial ventures in Chicago's music scene, what are the expectations for their singers and instrumentalists, and how they work to represent diversity in the arts while collaborating with living composers. They will be joined by two of their company singers and a collaborative pianist to perform excerpts from their upcoming performances of Trifles by John Bilotta and Sojourner Truth by Stanley Friedman.
