Therese has more than 25 years experience advocating and serving students from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education. Her background includes roles as teacher at the Cook County Jail of Chicago, administrator of adult basic education programs, learning support and writing centers, and TRIO Upward Bound and TRIO Student Support Services programs, and faculty of college English. As Director of TRIO Student Support Services at Northeastern Illinois University, Therese provides leadership on issues of opportunity and access to low income and first generation students and students with disabilities, developing services and programming to support students who are first in their family to attend college.
